Safety Quick contracted with Goodwill Industries to have the labels and caps attached to the Containers. Safety Quick believes that using local handicapped workers is a good way to further the good created by such oil recycling programs.
15,000 Safety Quick Containers were purchased. Post cards were mailed to the 80,000 residents of the City of Santa Rosa, the unincorporated County area and the City of Sonoma. Different mailers were sent to Santa Rosa residents and Sonoma County residents. As of November 8, 2000, the Post Office had not yet delivered the post cards. Updated data will be posted when it is available.
Upon receipt of the postcards, residents fill out the card and drop it in the mail to have SQ Containers delivered to their homes.
Instruction sheets were provided with the containers.
The waste haulers, including Empire Waste Management, had welded metal racks produced and installed on their trucks.
On recycling day, customers place their oil containers at curbside along with their newspapers, cans, bottles, cardboard and other recyclables. The waste haulers then take the full oil container and leave an empty one.
