USES OF RECYCLED OIL
Recycled oil can be used in one of four ways:
Rerefining. Rerefining is the process of heating, filtering and other processing of the used oil to produce high-value products such as those of the original oil. This processing is often similar to that used on crude oil.
Reprocessing. Reprocessing involves the heating, filtering and other processing of the used oil to obtain a different product such as a lower-grade oil. This processing is often less extensive than rerefining.
Incorporating in Other Products. Used oil can be used as a component in other products such as asphalt.
Burning as a Fuel. Used oil can be burned as a fuel in facilities such as power plants.
Used oil filters are usually drained and compressed to extract as much oil as possible. Then the filters are used to produce reinforcing bar for construction.
