The most recent case, according to the Press Democrat is that of Marcos Lopez Garcia who reportedly killed Christopher “Buddy” Rowe, 4, a pedestrian in Santa Rosa.

This death occurred on West 9th Street.  Garcia reportedly did not have a license because he is not in the US legally and had not obtained a license.  Garcia is in custody as of September 4, 2011.

 

April 28, 2009

Brandi Hanley reportedly killed Addison Branson,5, a passenger in another car in Santa Rosa.

This death occurred at Guerneville Road and Marlow Road.   Hanley reportedly had a “suspended license because of seizures.”  She was reportedly sentenced to 90 days in jail and probation.

The judge in this case was Ken Gnoss.

 

November 16, 2009

Luz Maria Mejia-Perez reportedly killed her passenger Anais Centeno, 17 in Cotati.

This death happened at Madrone Avenue and Highway 116.  Mejia-Perez reportedly did not have her license because she had “failed her driving test multiple times.”  She was reportedly sentenced to “90 days of home confinement and probation.”

The judge in this case was Shelly Averill.

 

April 11, 2004

Harvey David Hereford reportedly killed Alan Liu, 31, a bicyclist.

Hereford reportedly had an expired license and was driving drunk.  The death occurred on Highway 12 near Pythian Road.  Hereford was reportedly sentenced to 8 years and 8 months in prison.

Drivers’ licenses are a privilege issued to those who can show that they can be safe, responsible drivers.  A person without a valid license should not be on the road.
